About the Movie

Haile Selassie was emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 to 1936 and 1941 to 1974, when he was deposed for the second and last time. This poignant documentary offers glimpses into the rituals and rhythms of his daily life through interviews with his grandchildren and precious archival footage. Searching interviews with his ministers and imperial household retainers offer an assessment of his legacy as an ardent promoter of education, religious unification and African solidarity.
