This brand-new reality show gives a front row seat into the lives of four taxi bosses in South Africa as they navigate this highly competitive, and at times dangerous, industry.

Set in three different provinces of South Africa, Imboni Yama Tekisi shows what it takes to not only survive, but to thrive in this ruthless multi-billion-rand industry. The show explores how four taxi bosses conduct business, how they stay safe, and how they manage complicated family dynamics.

“Our reality slate at Mzansi Magic is unmatched, and we’re pleased to expand the different worlds we give our viewers. The taxi industry is a key component of South African life, yet beyond the headlines, very little is known about some of the people who run it. It’s exciting to give our viewers a reality show that intimately documents those in the industry,” says Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.

“Over the past year, we’ve grown our content slate and branched out even further when it comes to reality TV. It’s a genre that resonates with our viewers and pulls in impressive numbers. We are confident that Imboni Yama Tekisi will become another audience favourite,” she concludes.

The four taxi bosses that we get to meet are:

Nthabiseng Keroane

A widowed taxi boss and successful entrepreneur, Nthabiseng is always the life of the party and constantly entertains her 90 000+ followers on TikTok. She had to take over the taxi business after her husband’s death and learn the trade from scratch in order to keep everything running smoothly. She also has to find a way to carve out her own legacy in a predominantly male industry.

Biyela twins

Lindokuhle and Zakhele Biyela were forced to flee their previous operating territory after threats were made against them. They are now trying to maintain a successful business, while at the same time, being present fathers in the lives of the 20 children they have between them – all while navigating several complicated co-parenting relationships. It’s a very tricky balancing act.

Sabelo Ndaba

Sabelo has experienced the dangerous side of the taxi industry more than the other bosses after multiple attempts have been made on his life, including an incident that left him in a wheelchair. This boss, who also manages a cow farm, has also had to deal with the mother of his child limiting his parental time as much as possible.

This new reality show is like nothing you’ve ever seen before! It is an absolute reality thrill ride that will keep viewers locked on, not only the personal lives of the main characters, but the grit that goes along with making it in this lucrative and challenging industry.
