MultiChoice’s director of content sales and distribution, Mauro Black, shares his thoughts on the latest edition of the annual film festival.
The 2023 Durban Film Mart lived up to its theme “African Constellations” by acknowledging that individuals as stars will together form a constellation. The festival showcased 28 film projects as part of the pitch and finance forum while panel discussions created dialogue on a myriad of points facing our industry. One such topic is the role of artificial intelligence that sparked debate and left the audience excited about the future and how AI can be used responsibly to uplift the visual arts.
MultiChoice’s panel on how to pitch scripted content was well received and gave producers clear guidelines on what commissioning editors are looking for. I was proud to represent MultiChoice Studios and illustrate how our African content has found interest with international audiences.
