About the Short Film
The artist Johan van der Merwe, has captured three women – each trapped in her own framed painting. They can’t return to the outside world. The women are neatly hung aside each other against the gallery wall, but when they emerge into the world behind the wall, outside the frame, they find themselves on an alternate plane. Escape seems impossible until a painting of a girl with a pearl earring sheds new light on their situation.
