Eva, a young poet in her 20s, sits in a medical geneticist’s practice feeling overwhelmed by the possibility that she may have an extremely high risk of breast cancer because of her family history. She tests positive and is advised to undergo a preventive mastectomy. Her best friend, Hannelie, and her loving fiancé, Daniel, try to support her, but the interactions with them and their suggestions trigger her. The world around Eva associates breasts with sexuality, breastfeeding and desirability. What of that will remain after surgery? She starts avoiding the issue, but a poetry festival is approaching that will put Eva in the spotlight. Has she waited too long to make a decision?
